1 Enoch is a Jewish apocalypse (its oldest parts 3rd-2nd century BC) attributed to Enoch, the man 'taken' by God in Genesis 5. This opening prophecy of the Lord coming with his holy ones to judge is quoted almost word for word in the New Testament letter of Jude, the clearest case of the Bible echoing this literature. It was never part of the Jewish or Protestant canon (though the Ethiopian church keeps it).
