every side shown, no verdictHistoric, mainstream Christianity (Nicene Trinitarian) answers yes: Jesus is fully God and fully man, the eternal Son, "of one substance" (homoousios) with the Father, who became incarnate. This is the consensus of Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Lutheran, Reformed, Wesleyan, and mainstream evangelical traditions. The textual basis includes Jhn.1.1, Jhn.8.58, Jhn.20.28, Col.2.9, Tit.2.13, Heb.1.8, and Php.2.6-11. A minority position, held by some groups historically (4th-century Arians) and by some modern non-Trinitarian movements, reads these same texts differently and denies Jesus is God in the full sense. This reference presents both, attributes them, and endorses neither.
