The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs: love God and one another

the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs · PseudepigraphaPseudepigrapha

The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs are farewell speeches put in the mouths of Jacob's twelve sons, each teaching a moral lesson from his life. Well before the Gospels, they pair the two great commands, love of God and love of one's fellow, that Jesus names as the greatest, showing this summary of the Law was already alive in Jewish teaching.

Testament of Dan 5:3
Love the Lord through all your life, and one another with a true heart.

R. H. Charles's 1913 translation (The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament, Oxford; Public Domain)
