The family line · Adam to Jesus
Bible genealogy
Walk the family line from Adam to Jesus. Tap any name for the verse it comes from, and tap a link to read the “begat.” Every name is drawn straight from Scripture, Genesis 5 & 11, Ruth 4, Matthew 1, and Luke 3, so you can trace the whole chain yourself.
Added up, the genealogy’s own ages come to ~6,000 years, on Ussher’s reckoning (creation 4004 BC). Ussher's reckoning: ~4,000 years creation → Christ, plus ~2,000 years since.
The lifespans of Genesis
Every early life the Bible dates, drawn to scale from Adam to Jacob. The coral part is his age when his son was born; the rest is the years he lived after. Because they overlap, you can see it: Methuselah dies the very year of the flood. Tap any life for its verse.
Coral = years before his son was born · tan = the years he lived after. On a narrow phone, swipe the chart sideways.
The Bible records lifespans through the patriarchs, Jacob is the last (it doesn’t give his age when Judah was born, so his bar is his whole life). From Judah down to Jesus it stops recording them, so the family line continues below in the river, not here.
The two Gospels give different lists from David to Jesus, shown side by side, no verdict.
These years are the Bible's own genealogy totals on Ussher's reckoning (creation 4004 BC). Other readings differ: the Greek Septuagint's ages run ~1,500 years longer, many scholars read gaps in the lists (“father of” can mean ancestor of), and mainstream science dates the earth far older. We show the count and every view beside it, not a verdict.
