Where the oldest copies differ

The eunuch and the angel: two verses the King James prints in full

Acts 8:37. The King James prints, between the eunuch's question and his baptism: "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." (Acts 8:37, KJV). The Literal Standard Version prints it in double brackets. The American Standard, Berean Standard, World English Bible and Free Bible Version go straight from verse 36 to verse 38.

John 5:4. The King James explains why the sick were waiting by the pool: "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had." (John 5:4, KJV). The World English Bible prints it too; the Literal Standard Version brackets it; the American Standard, Berean Standard and Free Bible Version omit it. ISBE 1915 cites this verse as its first example of a marginal note taken into the text, describing it as "explaining how it happened that the waters of Bethesda were healing" (ISBE article: Text and Manuscripts of the New Testament).

And one that is a single sentence. Matthew 17:21 in the King James reads "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting." (Matthew 17:21, KJV), present also in the World English Bible, bracketed in the Literal Standard Version, absent from the American Standard, Berean Standard and Free Bible Version.
